Favourite HEALTHY SWEETENER – Date Paste

This Date Paste is our favourite Naturally SWEETENER we always use in our sweet recipes. It is easy and very versatile. You can add it to cakes (Zucchini Pistachio Cake, Apple Cake), muffins (Blackberry MuffinsCherry Chocolate Muffins), frostings (Healthy Vegan Frosting), pancakes, cookies (Healthy Thumbprint Cookies), home made cereals (Healthy Cinnamon Cereals), apple crisp (Simple Apple Crisp), granolaHealthy Banana Bread GranolaHealthy Pumpkin Granola), protein cups (High Protein CupsCherry Peanut Butter Cups) everything you can imagine. Is our sugar substitute by excellence. This sweetener is appropiate for everyone.

Even if we do not use any kind of sugars (refined sugar, brown sugar, maple syrup, agave syrup, coco sugar, nectars…) we enjoy having and baking desserts so we normally use DATES. We also use these ingredients to sweet our favourite desserts:

Applesauce | Cinnamon or cacao | Ripe bananas | Dry figs | Dehydrated fruit | Pumpkin | Sweet Potato

Favourite HEALTHY SWEETENER - Date Paste

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutes

Our favourite Healthy Sweetener for our Dessert Recipes.



  • 1 cup dates (140g)
  • 5 tbsp water


  1. Add dates to hot water and let there 10 minutes.
  2. After, blend the dates, remember to quit the pit first, with 5 tbsp of the hot water in a food processor or blender until a smooth consistency.
  3. Refrigerate in a clean jar for a week.


This recipe makes 2/3 cup Date Paste. If you want, you can double the recipe.

TIP: I usually heat the water in the microwave (1:30 minutes) and then I add the dates.
